Marc Kriegs: Pre-Sales, Edutainment, Business Storytelling

Edutainment is obviously a made-up word, combining Education and Entertainment. It refers to activities and content that are used to create moments of learning – or even better: moments of understanding – with elements of entertainment. It can certainly be argued what exactly education and entertainment mean in this context, but what we mean by it on this website is:

Learn or understanding something in a pleasant and delightful way.

While the term Edutainment was first used – maybe even invented – by Walt Disney in 1954, the concept is much older and can be traced back to the Renaissance. 

Marc Kriegs is a Pre-Sales and Edutainment Professional with additional expertise in Sales Enablement and Professional Learning.

He currently works at Gtmhub, inspiring and consulting businesses on strategy development and execution, value realisation and the measuring of progress, so they can improve their internal alignment, spot disruptive events quickly and focus on what’s important for them. 

As part of the EMEA Solutions team, Marc conducts workshops, presentations and product demos in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Romania and the Balkans. He specialises in Edutainment and Business Storytelling.

He is currently based in Berlin, Germany, but travels across Europe, the US and Asia for work.  

In short, Business Storytelling refers to using Storytelling in a business context. Storytelling is a communicating technique top convey information about a brand, a business or a product in the form of a story, rather than a fact sheet or a descriptive text.

While literally thousands of years old, storytelling has been gaining popularity among brands as a way to stand out and differentiate them from their competitors. 

There are different types of stories, and the success of the storytelling technique involves finding the right story for the right audience at the right time.

A learning intervention can be regarded as a learning/training program, whether it is a one-hour training or a three-week induction program. It combines learning methods (at least one) and media to achieve a defined learning goal for an audience of learners. Examples of learning methods are instructor-led training or self-study, while media ranges from digital channels such as video conferences to traditional whiteboards and paper handouts.
